Lockport officials, residents skeptical of proposed cell tower at Flink Field
A proposed 90-foot cell tower at a Lockport, Illinois high school sports field is facing significant pushback from city council members and local residents, despite receiving approval from the school district and a narrow 4-2 vote from the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The AT&T monopole would be constructed between softball and baseball fields at Lockport Township High School's Edward Flink Field. The company has already reduced the tower's height twice from its original proposal to address community concerns, settling on the current 90-foot design.
